Multiple System Atrophy Trust

MSA is a progressive neurological disorder resulting from the degeneration of nerve cells in specific areas of the brain, causing problems with movement, balance, speech and automatic functions such as bladder control. A disorder that occurs at random and is ultimately fatal, MSA affects adults, usually people between the ages of 50 and 60. The Multiple System Atrophy Trust provides information and support to those living with MSA, their families, carers and health care professionals. The Trust also funds research into the causes of MSA and its treatment. The Trust was set up in 1997 by Sarah Matheson, who died from MSA in 1999 and had held various posts at the Architectural Association. The brother of Cycle to Cannes’ founder Peter Murray also died from MSA.
